COURSE SUMMARY:
Industrial Engineering is an engineering profession that is concerned with the optimization of complex processes, systems, or organizations by developing, improving and implementing integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information and equipment. This module reviews the skills and techniques required to analyze manufacturing system and to design improved methods and process flow. The focus of this module will be on the application of the technique through studies and industrial experience and will identify the benefits to be gained by their successful.
COURSE OUTLINE:
Module 1: Enthusiastic Industrial Engineering.
Module 2: Time study method.
Workshop 1: Job/Operation breakdown+Gemba
Module 3: Process visualization method.
Workshop 2: Time observation+Gemba.
Module 4: Production planning and scheduling.
Module 5: Valude added analysis.
Case Study: "What If" scenario and analysis.
Module 6: Pull system/Kanban/Supermarket Approach
Module 7: Continuous Improvement (Kaizen)
Workshop 3: Kaizen project deployment + Gemba
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
To understand the role of industrial engineering and the need for enthusiastic action in keeping industrial competitiveness.
To identify the best method for time study, including the job/ operation breakdown and instructional standard operating procedures with gemba/ simulation at the workplace.
To visualise the product/ process value stream and identify the appropriate approach for time observation/analysis/documentation.
To learn the need for production planning and proper scheduling techniques as productivity boosters, including man–machines requirement strategy.
To identify potential kaizen/ IE projects through Value-added analysis/ cost-saving/man-machines effectiveness.
To understand the need of pull system in the production strategy/aligned with customer/production needs, including Kanban and supermarket approach.
To identify potential kaizen project through enthusiastic Industrial Engineering.
